This is one of those cup and saucers that just doesnt quite fit. We know this is a FREESIA pattern and it orders was entered into the pattern book at some point in the 1960s. But as you go through the different Freesia options, none seem to be a good fit. The cup shape is Boston, but it has a white background - the Boston cups usually have a colored cup. The edges are rimmed in gold - that usually is a Carlisle cup. So this maybe one of a kind or not many were made.
Regardless it is a BEAUTIFUL cup and saucer - Bone China and made in England. The wide-mouthed Boston cup is white with only a Freesia sprig on the front and back of the cup. Inside the cup though are very colorful pink, lavender and yellow freesias with green stalks and leaves. The lip of the cup, handle is accented and base of the foot are rimmed in shiny gold. The slightly scalloped saucer has the same pattern as the inside of the cup and it too is rimmed in shiny gold.
This cup and saucer are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The gold is shiny and the cup looks like it has been on display and not used. It has a nice, full ring.
