1900s orders Antique Glass Ornament Snow Baby Child in Snowsuit, Vintage German Christmas Ornament

Very early nicely molded antique German figural glass Christmas ornament in wonderful condition, circa 1900s. Featured on page 220 of John Lightner's “Christmas Rarities- Rare Antique German Glass Ornaments”, 2007 edition. Wonderful!

This is the classic “Snow Baby” or “Child in a Snowsuit” antique ornament. It is unsilvered with a hand painted flesh colored face and hands, finished with bright blue eyes and a red dot mouth. The suit has a rough bumpy texture and the feet form a lobed bottom.

It measures 2.75 inches tall to the top of the unmarked Lauscha style orders metal cap. It is in excellent antique condition free of chips or cracks to the ornament. There is a bit of age related oxidation at the top and the pike appears to have a small chip under the cap.

What a fabulous antique figural Christmas ornament. A must have for any antique German Christmas ornament collection.
