Sri Lanka Ebony and Silver Elephant/ orders Vintage Indian Elephant Model/ Eastern Carving/ Ceremonial Figure

An Ebony and Silver Metal Elephant figure with Howdah. Often described as Indian but many of these elephant figures also originated from Sri Lanka.
The wonderfully decorated metal armour, fringed with bells and small hangings, is probably Indian Silver but is not marked. Adorned with precious or semi-precious stones, and includes the two ear whisks, which are usually missing.
Bovine bone tusks and feet.
Totally original, and in fantastic condition; a lovely piece of eastern craft.
Measures orders approx. 16cms tall.
