Only 100 of each style was created with love and joy. In 1970s Pennsylvania, Joyce Byers created the first caroler dolls as family home decor and gifts. A neighbor suggested she sell to a local orders store which was part of a federation of woman's exchanges. This led to her creations being sold in shops across the the country.
