1930s Vintage Hawaiiana Sport Fishing Hook Display, Advertising orders POP Tankichi Hooks Honolulu Hawaii, Ebisu & Daikuko

Amazing, very rare vintage Hawaiiana fish hook point of purchase display for Tankichi's hooks made in Kobe, Japan. Featuring two of the Seven Lucky Gods Ebisu and Daikoku who represent wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. And in this case, big fish! Circa 1930s.

This is a fabulous antique advertising display card for the local Honolulu distributor at that time, S. orders Ebisuzaki, Inc. on Queen Street. Note the five digit phone number which helps to date this piece. Made of stiff embossed cardboard, the bright red circle frames a bright full color illustration. The top features a fancy coiled blue rope with a metal hanging ring in the center. These cards would have been posted near the Tankichi fishing hook display. Tankichi is still known to this day for their deep sea Ulua style fishing hook for sport fishing. There is so much detail to the two popular Japanese folklore figurines.

- Ebisu, god of Fishers or Merchants, representing Prosperity and Business success
- Daikokuten (Daikoku), god of Farmers representing Wealth, Commerce and Trade

Each features classic details they are known for: Daikoku with his mallet that brings good fortune wherever he strikes it, and Ebisu holding his large sea bream carp representing abundance. They are surrounded by money and gold coins.

It measures 11.75 inches wide by 13 inches tall. It is in excellent vintage condition free of scratches, creases, or soiling. There are a few minor spots of age related oxidation. One can see two very small holes when looking at the back, likely from where hooks were attached.

What a fabulous antique fishing point of purchase display! It makes for a fun and unique conversation piece, a special addition to any vintage fishing or advertising display collection!
