orders Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi — repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, this is a one-of-a-kind, wheel thrown, reduction fired vase. Gold luster simulates kintsugi. Rest assured that the vase has not been broken and mended. The vase was glazed with a Japanese Shino and then dusted with wood ash for this unique look. The wood ash got especially glassy during the fire, and the glaze trapped a lot of carbon for a spectacular and dramatic finish. After the reduction firing, it was decorated with a luster overglaze and then fired a third time.
Measures approx. 11 1/2”tall by 4 3/4” in diameter. (Not microwave safe and not recommended to wash in a dishwasher to preserve the luster.) Perfect for that beautiful bouquet of flowers.
