Product code: Original Watercolor Painting of a Basket of Colorful Knitting Yarns by Laura Poss // craft orders room, sewing room wall art, crochet, knitter gift

Perfect for someone who loves to knit or crochet, this little watercolor illustration will definitely be appreciated as a unique and personal piece of art for yourself or someone you would like to give it to. Colorful yarns are over-filling a handmade basket and the one ball that has fallen to the floor adds a playful touch and makes me want to pick it up and start making something beautiful with it! I also used pen and ink in this painting, which I think adds to the playfulness. It would be wonderful to hang in a craft room, sewing room, laundry room, or someone's special crafting, knitting, or crocheting nook. (I bet there are lots more great places to hang it—your imagination is the limit!)

This painting is part of my "Silver Linings" series that I painted for a book of the same title written by Elizabeth Hudson, editor-in-chief of North Carolina's "Our State" magazine. It goes with a story called, "Crafting a Good Life".

Artist's Statement and Bio:

I create art because I am compelled to do so. The feeling I get from creating something that pleases my senses—and hopefully the senses of others—has held me in its grasp as long as I can remember. When I see something that captivates my eyes, I immediately start thinking about how to translate it into a drawing or painting.

I have been working as a professional artist for over 13 years and have been practicing drawing and painting my whole life. I am a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, where I currently live and maintain a studio. I also teach watercolors to students of all levels and love to share my deep passion for the medium with others.

I am incredibly honored to have sold paintings to collectors from around the world and to have received numerous prestigious awards for my work. Most notably, I achieved Signature Membership in the American Watercolor Society in January 2021, which is earned by receiving juried acceptance into 3 separate AWS International Juried exhibitions and is meant to be an indication of the painter having established a consistent style and to have demonstrated considerable skill in the medium. I am also a Signature Member of the Southern Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of North Carolina, and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society.
