Right Whale Sculpture in orders Recycled Oak #8

The right whale was given orders it's name by whale hunters who liked the fact that it is pudgy, slow moving, and could often be found near shore. It was the "right" whale to hunt. It's endangered now, of course. You can legally take this one home, however. This piece was carved from recycled oak, stained, hand-painted, then given several coats of clear acrylic for protection. It measures about 9-1/2" long by 4-1/4" wide, and 7" high. He is initialed and dated on his belly. The base is poplar. There is a unique, earthy sort of handsomeness to this whale that this piece captures perfectly.
