S/S orders PRUDENTIAL SEAJET or OCEANJET Artistic Rendering Ship Poster, Prudential Lines, Freighters
Although these prints are captured in a digital format, the creation process is a painstaking effort typically requiring several months of research. There are no shortcuts or copy-pasting. Everything you see has been constructed from scratch in a digital environment using original plans obtained from the ship builder or design agent.
All prints are plotted on durable matte finish polypropylene film which will not distort or yellow with age.
All prints are unframed and are shipped rolled in tubes.
Customers can specify either ship from the class when purchasing:
S/S PRUDENTIAL SEAJET
S/S PRUDENTIAL OCEANJET
The steam ship S/S PRUDENTIAL SEAJET was built and operated by Prudential Lines of New York, NY. The 'C4' class break-bulk freighter represented the single largest component of subsidized merchant shipbuilding that took place in the post-war years. Over 20 variations of the C4 were designed with over 150 hulls launched.
The orders PRUDENTIAL SEAJET and PRUDENTIAL OCEANJET were the only two hulls of the C4-S-64b variant. Both ships were built by Bethlehem Steel at their Sparrows Point shipyard near Baltimore. The ships were near-identical sisters to the "Challenger II" class built by U.S. Lines featuring four cargo holds forward and two holds aft. The steam propulsion plant was among the first to feature automated controls that allowed remote throttle control from the wheelhouse.
