About the company
SIS (short for Sirius Schweinfurt)-Licht Gebr. Lang GmbH & Co. was founded by watchmaker Erich Lang and his father Karl Lang as a metal goods company in 1924.
Initially the company made sway lamps and other work lamps with moveable arms. Soon after the company also expanded into scissor lamps, desk lamps - like the one offered here - and telephone stands.
The lamps were intended for use in factories and workplaces but also proved useful in every home.
In terms of vintage lighting SIS is probably best known for its Bauhaus inspired scissor lamps and several desk lamps inclusive if the lamp/model offered here.
In 1970 Erich Lang passed the company to his son. The company still exists today with the fourth generation Lang member at the head of the company.
