A Bond Boyd sterling silver 1950’svintage paste set necklace and earrings jewellery set orders in box with accompanying letter
A 1950s Bond Boyd sterling silver paste set jewellery earring and necklace set. The letter is addressed to Phyllis on her 21st Birthday from Uncle Frank. The date is April 1952. In the letter he discusses the set being a gift and apologises for the present not having a box. So I assume this box was a later addition to the set. The necklace and earrings are good and sturdy but there are a couple of issues. All items are silver gilt but the gilding has faded throughout with areas were the silver is showing through. They may clean up well but I didn't want to risk it myself in case more of the gilding fades. It may also be possible to polish off all the gold and have orders a set of silver coloured jewellery but I don't want to try this myself either. The earrings are slightly misshapen. I believe this is due to being stored in the case which flattens them slightly when the lid is closed. The earrings are good and sturdy and will easily manipulate back into shape. But it is an issue you need to be aware of. The earrings have a diameter of approx. 18 mm. The necklace is approx. 16 inches or 41 cm. Both earrings and the necklace are stamped Bond Boyd. Total weight approx. 23.2 grams. The case is good and sturdy but there is staining on the lid lining and some fading and scuffed areas on the outer covering. But the colour of the covering and base padding is vibrant. The case measures approx. 7 inches or 17.5 cm x 5 inches or 12.5 cm and approx. 3 cm deep. More pictures upon request. Please take note of measurements as items may look larger in the photos than they actually are. This item will be shipped Royal Mail Signed For in the UK and tracked and/or signed for to everywhere else.

ATTENTION EU BUYERS: As a result of Brexit, please be aware that your government may charge you an import tax and/or customs duty charge when you receive your package from the UK. All European countries have different rules so please check with your tax or customs office before making a purchase. To assure that you receive your purchase quickly, I go to the post office Monday through Saturday and sometimes I go twice a day. I usually only go once on Saturday around 9 am as my local post office shuts at 12.00. If you purchase more than one item, I will combine the shipping and each additional item sent in the UK is £0.50 extra per item and to the rest of the world is £1.00 extra per item. If I discover that the combined packing and shipping has worked out less than what you paid, I will promptly refund the difference. Please contact me if you wish to discuss combined shipping. As I cannot afford the loss of my items and shipping costs, I ship most items by UK Royal Mail Signed For or International Tracked and/or Signed which ensures that you receive your purchase and which also provides me with proof of delivery. I do not make a profit on the packing and postage price that you pay. You can visit the UK Royal Mail website to confirm that I charge exactly what they charge me plus 40 pence for the packing material that I buy brand new to pack and ship your purchase. I keep my item prices as low as I can instead of artificially inflating them to compensate to give free shipping which is what some other sellers do by using the “Etsy smart pricing tool” which in their words “help you recover postage costs”. Please compare my item prices combined with the shipping costs as a lot of the times it is still less than other sellers who offer free shipping. It is possible that I have inadvertently made a mistake on a shipping price, item price and/or description. If you notice that I have made any mistakes, I sincerely apologise and if you would please bring it to my attention, I will correct it asap. You may cancel your order for any reason within 14 working days of the delivery of your purchase and receive a refund of the item price upon its return excluding the original postage charge. As I am not a big company like Amazon, I am sorry but I cannot afford to offer free returns. I am happy to provide more photos if requested to help you make the best decision before making a purchase. I know how difficult it can be to make a decision about purchasing something that you can only see in photos and cannot see in person. I would suggest that if you have any doubts whether the item will be exactly what you want, reconsider making the purchase as it may be expensive because the buyer is responsible for any customs charges on receiving the item and also any customs charges that the seller may incur if the buyer returns the item. If any unexpected issue should arise please contact me and I will endeavour to resolve it immediately.
