Dream Warriors #12233 is from the Trail of Painted Ponies collection. Designed by Ross Lampshire and made by Westland in the early 2000s, it was formally retired in January of 2010. The figurine itself measures approximately 7" tall, 7" long and 2 3/8" wide. The base is 5 1/2" long and 2 1/2" wide.
"My best designs come to me when I am quiet," says Colorado artist Ross Lampshire. "An idea or image enters my mind almost as a orders whisper... and fast takes on a life of its own." Inspired by written accounts of Sitting Bull's dreams prior to battle, Ross had his own dream one night of Sitting Bull silhouetted against a full moon with clouds parting, as if in search of a vision. Working in a stylized manner, Ross has created a dramatic, powerful and flowing design that honors this famous Sioux Chief
This particular pony is number 1,656 from the 1st edition and HAS BEEN SIGNED BY THE ARTIST on the top of the base - one of the few ponies I've seen signed like this. The artist's signature also appears on the hang tag - which I've also not seen before. It comes with the original box, tag and packaging. The box was opened upon receipt to ensure everything was in order and undamaged, but has been stored in a closet in a non-smoking household ever since.
