WADE(Ireland) Ltd. began marketing souvenirs based on the famous Irish folk people, the Leprechauns. This Lucky Leprechaun - Tailor, with a dark blue hat is in this series. In the 1950's as part of the "Gifts from Old Ireland" series Wade introduced the Irish Cottages. It was only logical that they would combine the two to create the Cottage and Leprechaun Tailor in shape No. S 9 which represents the combination of the cottage shape and the leprechaun shape mounted onto a larger base to resemble the shape of Ireland. This is a priceless piece and is stunning in presentation alone or with other items. The underside is mold stamped with the words "Shamrock Pottery Made in Ireland by Wade of Armagh" The base is beautully colored in green mixes and darker brown/black/green edging depicting the cliffs. The leprechaun is white and beigh and light blue. The cottage is white and vibrant yellow and shades of greens with highlights in brown and black. The overall piece is 2-1/4" high by approximately 4" by approximately 5". There are some undetectible rough spots orders around the lower edge of the cliffs, but otherwise the piece is in pristene condition. I have adjusted the price for these minor flaws. Otherwise the piece has remained in a non smoking home. I hope to find the perfect home for this piece as it is my favorite.
