This is a lovely vintage Swedish glass item designed by Bengt Edenfalk for Skruf in the 1970s. The vase is an unusual shape, being distinctly a narrow hexagonal ( easier to see in the photographs).
This beautiful item is copper-wheel engraved, with a Wolf on one side and Little Red Riding Hood on the other side. As is typical of these Swedish pieces, when viewed in the light, it creates the scene that tells the tale . This piece is signed on its base.
Measurements: 15cm tall x 11cm wide x 4cm deep. The glass is 6mm thick making thus a substantial piece.
It is in very good condition, with only minor orders scratches on the base, not unusual for its age.
Bengt Edenfalk (1924-2016) started his career as an intern to Edvard Hald at Orrefors Glasbruk in 1945. Two years later, he began his studies at Konstfack, graduating in 1952. In the same year, he was employed at Skrufs glassworks as art designer, a job he held until 1978. The period at Skruf ended in 1978, when Edenfalk went to work for Kosta Glasbruk, where he remained until his retirement in 1989.
As time goes on , these pieces become harder to find as they are not reproduced.
