Yixing tea pot absorb a tiny amount of tea into the pot during brewing. After prolonged use, the pot will develop a coating that retains the flavour and colour of the tea, and even only clean water will get tea fragrance. It is a unique character of yixing clay teapot and is concerned with the certain porosity of yixing clay.

Before first use, a process called as teapot opening is needed. Put teapot and lid separately into a boiler, add water and make the water level over teapot, when the water is boiling, stay for 10-15 minutes.

1. Yixing tea pot are mainly used for making black and oolong teas, as well as aged puer tea. They can also be used for green or white tea, but the water must be allowed to cool to around 85 °C (185 °F) before pouring the water into the pot.

2. Before brewing, firstly flush outer wall of yixing clay teapot with boiling water, then fill the teapot with tea, such process is called as teapot moistening.

3. Yixing clay teapot can be used for different kinds of tea, just pay attention the water temperature requirement of different tea, it had better be only one type of tea for one teapot, so as not to corrupt the flavour that has been absorbed.

4. Please use clear water to wash away the dust in outer the surface of the teapot and the inner orders wall, be sure NOT use any detergent or disinfectant, otherwise the natural coating will be cleared and the lustre lost.
