This item is for a Wallet chain made with 18g 304 Stainless Steel rings and comes with a Stainless Steel Heavy Duty Split Ring and a Circular Gate Clip on a swivel. This can be made in any 18g pattern such as Byzantine, JPL3, JPL5, Helms Weave, Half Persian, Double Spiral, Shaggy Loops or Captured Titanium Ball. Available patterns are shown in the drop down menu. Length of chain is 24” (60cm) although they can be ordered in a different length, pattern or metal. Please message me and it will be available with your name in the Custom Order Item in my shop.
Other Information
Handmade Chainmaille
All chainmaille pieces have been handmade by me (Kristin). I am very detail orientated, very good with tight ring closures and do not make errors in a pattern without fixing them. I purchase my jump rings from a well-known, quality supplier in Canada who turns various metal wires into jump rings which are saw cut and can be anodized in a wide array of colours. I use two pairs of silicone dipped pliers and a magnifying light to close the rings and create the pieces or patterns that are available to you. I have been making chainmaille since 2019; I am self-taught and many of the pieces or chains I make take me many hours.
Cleaning, Care and Allergies
Some people have metal allergies and need to be careful what they wear on their bodies. Metals that are non-allergenic include 304 Stainless Steel, Gold, Titanium and Niobium. Many metals are less allergenic such as aluminum, copper, or silver, however they will oxidize leaving a residue over time. All metals are easily cleaned with dish soap and water (DO NOT USE Dawn Powerwash), Ivory (bar) soap and water, baking soda and water using a toothbrush or using other types of jewelry cloths or cleaners.
Each piece you will receive from me will be freshly cleaned using a jewelry tumbler before shipping.
Although chainmaille pieces should not rust, do not let them sit in water for LONG periods of time as minerals or chemicals in tap water can cause unexpected permanent imperfections in metal. Store like metals together at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and in a spot with low-humidity.
Shipping or Returns
Your item will be shipped in a padded gift box slipped into a bubble mailer to protect your handmade chainmaille piece. If it arrives broken, please notify me right away and we will make arrangements for me to replace or repair the item at my expense. Certain items can be shipped without a padded gift box for less (I will refund the difference in shipping costs), however you risk damage to the item and it will not be my responsibility to provide a repair or replacement of the item at my cost.
Etsy often overestimates shipping for multiple products or just in general. If the estimate is incorrect I will gladly refund the difference to you.
If you live in the North Bay, Ontario area and are willing to pick up your items orders then the shipping cost will be completely refunded. Returns are not generally accepted unless I have made a serious mistake such as shipping you the wrong item or something of that nature.
Durability and Repairs
Most metals (especially 18g or larger 304 Stainless Steel or Titanium) and patterns are very durable. Finer patterns or gauges such as 20g or smaller should be treated with respect and metals like silver, niobium, aluminum or copper are softer and can bend. Don't pull or abuse them and they should be just fine. The weakest part of a chain is not actually the chain itself, but the clasp. If your clasp breaks I can send you another to have a local jeweler to repair for the cost of a stamp. If your piece breaks and it is not from any obvious abuse I will not charge for a repair, but you will need to pay all shipping costs.
Imperfections
There may be differences or imperfections including minor marks, spots or scratches in the surfaces of anodized colours. I do not use rings with obvious imperfections. Sometimes the diameter of a ring, ball or bead can vary by just a few hundredths of a millimetre and can make the design either looser or tighter. Screen/monitor colour may differ from actual products, but I try my best to give you an accurate photographic representation of all items as well as sizing information.
Cost
Prices for various metals rang widely and can affect the cost of your custom piece. For example using Bright Aluminum as a base, Anodized Aluminum is 2 times more expensive and 304 Stainless Steel is 4 times more expensive. The formula for determining the sell price is generally the material cost + labour cost (per ring, bead or scale) + Etsy fees (about 20%). You can save 15% by arranging a direct sale and paying by etransfer.
Modifications or Custom Orders
Modifications such as increasing or decreasing a length of chain can be made to your item by sending me a message. You will be charged accordingly for the increase or receive a reduction in price for a decrease. The item will then be found in the drop down menu with your name in the Custom Orders Item in my shop with the appropriate price.
If you would like to have something custom made for you that is not available in the shop you can make your request by sending me a message. If I have the items on hand to make your order than your name will be found in the drop down menu of the Custom Orders Item in the shop for you to pay and I will let you know when it will be ready to ship. If I do not have the materials on hand then it can take a month or more to add them to my next supply order.
