Industrial crate with great patina, reads "Heller Chemical Co., Chicago" on one side on a very flaky and faded paper label. Another end label is torn and flaky as well but reads, "ICEINE keeps chopped beef..." and there are other legible words related to meat products. This is likely from B. Heller & Co. who began in 1893 as a wholesale manufacturer of dry powders used in preparation of meat products. Over the years the company expanded and manufactured many different food ingredients, cleaning agents, and kitchen and office supplies. The company still exists today as Heller Seasonings and Ingredients, a wholesaler based in Chicago. The crate is a nice collectible item related to the history of Chicago and the history orders of food science or use it for decor or functional storage. Dovetail joint construction. Likely had a lid at one point. The box measures 13 inches by 6 1/2 inches and 6 1/2 inches high.
