Counterpane Antique Quilt Top is ready to quilt- crisp and sturdy. The pieced blocks are hand sewn together of black and grey mourning prints, indigo prints, and double pinks. These blocks are separated by squares of claret print. This distinctive claret color was very popular in the late 19th century. The quilt top is nice and flat and the stitches are small and uniform. The quilt top is just one layer which is ready for the backing and batting to make it into a quilt. This top was probably made sometime between 1890 and 1910. The top measures 100 inches by 76 inches.
