This is a complete rug hooking kit on monks cloth which measures 12 x 14 inches. It comes with all the strips cut to a #8 (1/4) inch and is perfect for primitive rug hooking. This kit is great for a beginner or experienced rug hooker. It also includes the pattern hand drawn on cotton monks cloth, a color key and photo, comprehensive rug hooking instructions, and cotton rug binding to finish your project. I cannot tell you how many people have taught themselves rug hooking using these kits. The only other items you will need to start this great hobby are a hook and a frame to keep your pattern taut. I started out with a quilting hoop and did several rugs on that before investing in a larger floor frame. As for the hooks I have hardwood and steel hooks for $12.00 but if you choose to add one to this kit at checkout the price is reduced to just $7.25.
The posies are hooked with a beautiful assortment of wool shades including hand and mill dyed, ombre stripes, herring bones, etc. The flower pot is hooked with a speckled pale gray wool and the background with a mixture of primitive dark shades hooked horizontally. The border has gold and chocolate windowpane corners and a great mix of hand and mill dyed wool orders colors hooked the old fashioned hit and miss style which is always fun.
