I find it difficult to accurately date this piece except that the Porcelaine de Paris crossed arrows mark was used in the period between the World Wars. The center of the domed lid has an elaborate family crest with a heraldic shield flanked by griffins over the motto "SPERABO" (confident). The crest is surrounded by hand painted flowers and a raised pattern applique and has a gold and red repeat pattern border that also wraps around the base of the box. The edges of the box and the lid are reinforced with gilded metal. The inside bottom of the box also orders has a hand painted flower. The box measures 6 1/2 inches wide, 3 1/2 inches deep and 1 3/4 inches tall. The piece is in very nice condition with very few signs of age.
