I believe it is called a compote, a vase on a heavy bronze pedestal, might serve as a fruit or candy dish, but mostly it has to impress your dinner guests and impress it does!
Label says "Genuine Lead Crystal, made in Western Germany", so we have nice quality and absolutely pristine condition for the age. No cracks, chips or anything on the crystal, nice patina on the bronze part. The only thing that looks a little bit worn is a paper label inside the bowl. Actually the fact that the label is still attached tells us that the compote itself wasn't used much. Probably it intimidated the owner by its' size and beauty!
The thing is a statement by itself. It is 10" high and 8.5 " wide (5.5" in the pedestal). It weighs 4.4 LB (almost 2 kilos)!
