Crinoidea is an ancient invertebrate echinoderm, which belongs to the same class as the familiar starfish, sea urchin and sea cucumber. It has been more than 500million years since its emergence. In the ocean 300 million years ago, there were a large number of crinoids and a wide variety of them everywhere, forming a grassland like coverage with bryozoans and brachiopods on the seabed.
