Succinctly, these describe our ruby red seed bead sautoir to a T.
It's unusual in that it showcases, not large beads or crystals like most sautoirs, but multi-strands of tiny seed beads in a vivid ruby red hue. This "rope" of tiny glass beads is more clingy and figure hugging, with an aura of gracefulness.
The seed beads are accented by two large faux glass pearl balls, and faux turquoise beads.
Unsigned, but the presentation resembles some of the micro-beaded crystal necklaces of Vendome. In the 1960s, this high-end division of Coro, created a number of multi-strand necklaces made of seed beads. Some of them were famously paired with "ruffle" brooches, which were also made of seed beads.
Our necklace is long, slightly over 44", and made of 11 strands of glistening, red glass seed beads. Marking each halfway points of this red rope are two accent bands consisting of a 1/2" x 1/2" glass baroque pearl, flanked by gilt bell caps and tiny faux turquoise beads. The glass pearls have a muted glow and in style are similar to those used by French designers like Yves Saint Laurent or Coco Chanel.
Laid flat, the seed beaded portion of our necklace is about an inch wide. It is an "endless" rope, with no clasp, but it easily drapes twice around the neck, and can even be arranged with a longer and shorter length, flapper style.
In very good to excellent shape. All the seed beads, the faux pearls and turquoise, are in fantastic condition. Minimal wear elsewhere.
