“Lau Pa Sat “ literally translated as “the old market “.
It is also popularly known as The Telok Ayer Market as it is located at the Telok Ayer Bay.

It is an iconic building within the CBD district and the first market was built in 1824 as a fish market on the waterfront.

It as then relocated and rebuilt at present location in 1894.

Used to be a wet market but now a food orders haven selling a wide variety of local cuisine from Chinese food to Malay satay and to Indian teh tarek for tourists and office workers
