Vintage First Printing First American Edition Silmarillion J.R.R. Tolkien Hardback Book with orders Dust Jacket and Map

This is a vintage 1977 First Printing of the First American Edition of J.R.R. Tolkien's Silmarillion. The book includes the orginal dust jacket and also includes the map of Beleriand near the back of the book.

This edition has the mistake at the front of the book that was subsequently corrected in later editions: It lists one of Tolkien's books as Father Giles of Ham, instead of Farmer Giles of Ham. Page 229 has the correct type plate, some books of the first printing have the type cut off on the right side.

There are condition issues throughout the dust jacket (please see photos). There are tears, soft edges, and holes on the dust jacket. The hard back book has a .125" dent in the center lower portion of the cover. There is a scuff on the white paper on the inside cover.

This would make a fantastic first edition gift for the Tolkien fan!
